Cafe Manager - Western Australian Museum - Boola Bardip

Epoch Cafe is a vibrant and contemporary café centrally located within the iconic WA Museum Boola Bardip.

Our menu celebrates native and locally sourced ingredients, offering a relaxed yet refined dining experience to museum visitors and locals alike.

The Role – Café Manager

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Cafe Manager to lead our front-of-house team and ensure the smooth daily operation of Epoch Café. This hands-on leadership role requires a proactive professional who can manage staff, maintain high service standards, and drive operational excellence in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Operational Management

Oversee daily café operations, ensuring a smooth and efficient service flow.

Maintain high presentation and cleanliness standards across all service areas.

Monitor and control stock levels, ordering supplies through approved vendors.

Liaise with kitchen, health & safety, and museum teams to ensure seamless coordination.

Manage cash handling, banking, and reconciliation processes.

Maintain and update POS systems, menu pricing, and specials.

People & Leadership

Lead, train, and motivate the café team to deliver exceptional service.

Prepare and manage staff rosters and approve timesheets.

Recruit, onboard, and develop front-of-house team members.

Foster a positive, inclusive, and productive team culture.

Customer Experience

Engage with customers to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Respond promptly and professionally to feedback or complaints.

Ensure team members are knowledgeable about the menu, specials, and museum offerings.

Requirements:

Proven experience in café or restaurant management.

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.

Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and workplace health & safety standards.

Competency in POS systems, cash handling, and basic financial reporting.

A passion for local produce and high-quality hospitality.
