What does the business unit do?

Emergency Management Victoria (EMV) leads emergency management in Victoria by working with government, agencies and business to strengthen their capacity to withstand, plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies. EMV is a statutory entity and is part of the Department of Justice and Community Safety.

Operations

The purpose of the Operations directorate is to lead the emergency operational coordination and state operations in Victoria by working with communities, government, agencies and business to strengthen their capacity to withstand, plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies.

This role is based in Melbourne and requires out of business hours work and travel across the state to meet the needs of the Volunteer Marine Search & Rescue sector.

What will the role do?

The Project Officer role is part of the Marine Search & Rescue (MSAR) team which supports the agencies, volunteers and units that deliver MSAR services in Victoria. The incumbent is expected to provide support to the MSAR office and volunteers to ensure the effective delivery of the statewide training and exercising programs.

Key tasks include:

  • Coordinate the ongoing daily usage of the learning management system by MSAR volunteers
  • Support MSAR volunteers in navigating through the training and assessment pathways
  • Coordinate the implementation of statewide training and exercising programs
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of training and assessment programs

What skills and knowledge should the Project Officer - Marine learning Systems have?

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Strong ICT skills in maintaining training and assessment databases
  • Experience in delivering training and assessment programs
  • Knowledge of domestic commercial vessel training pathway
  • Experience in delivering simulated exercises to emergency volunteers
  • Certificate IV workplace training and assessment highly desirable
  • AMSA issued certificate of competency - Coxswain Grade 1 minimum or attain within 3 months.
  • Experience in marine search and rescue desirable
