Purpose of the Position

The Family Support Officer’s primary role is to support the Team Leader and Intensive Family Support Officer’s to achieve client engagement and client outcomes.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Conduct home visits with IFSOs and provide ongoing client support.
  • Contact waitlist clients and follow active efforts procedure.
  • Support walk in clients with the self-referral process.
  • Support IFSOs to transport clients to appointments/services.
  • Assess client referral needs and develop programs to improve outcomes, including researching evidence-based practices, sourcing resources, marketing, and facilitating sessions.
  • Create and develop in-home visual support resources (e.g., routines, budgets, action lists) tailored to client needs.
  • Plan and implement community events in collaboration with the manager to foster engagement and strengthen community relations.
  • Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with referral partners and other service providers.
  • Participate in and attend promotional and community events, networking opportunities.
  • Conduct risk assessments and deliver programs in accordance with CQID’s Workplace Health and Safety Standards Quality Systems.
  • Maintain program / activities within the ARC system in line with IFS procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Team Leader and colleagues to problem-solve, improve service delivery, and achieve performance targets.
  • Follow service model processes and record keeping protocols
  • Undertake administrative duties as directed by the IFS Team Leader or Manager (e.g., booking team training registrations).
  • Purchase stationary/resources under the direction of IFS Manager.
  • Actively participate in IFS meetings and professional development training opportunities.
  • Participate and contribute to the organisation’s compliance obligations under the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and Health Standards Quality Systems (HSQS)
  • At all times work within CQID’s Workplace Health & Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Other responsibilities as directed by the Team Leader/Manager

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Holds a current C Class Queensland Drivers Licence
  • Current Working with Children Check, ‘Blue Card’
  • Holds or is willing to obtain a First Aid and CPR Certificate

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Services
  • Qualifications of knowledge related to Child Protection
  • Experience at successful service delivery to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Experienced in client engagement and case collaboration

Skills and Attributes

Essential

  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage – [Note: Non-Indigenous applicants will only be considered if no suitable Indigenous candidates are attracted in the first round of applicants]
  • Competent in use of Microsoft Office Software
  • Physical ability to undertake job responsibilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively; spoken and written
  • Self-starter, motivated and able to self-manage work tasks
  • Strong connection to and knowledge of local Indigenous Community

Desirable

  • Experience in planning, coordinating, and delivering programs and activities
