Are you an experienced property lawyer looking to step into a senior in-house role with impact? This is a rare opportunity to join a respected government organisation, providing high-level property and leasing legal services for a state government client.

The Role
As a Principal Lawyer within the Property Law and Leasing Team (Corporate Legal Services), you will:

Provide high-level property law and leasing advice across government departments.

Oversee and mentor other lawyers to ensure efficient, accurate, and client-focused services.

Act as a first point of contact for clients and external lawyers, managing complex matters with minimal supervision.

Advise on legislation including the Property Law Act 1974, Land Act 1994, Land Title Act 1994, Retail Shop Leases Act 1994, and other key Acts.

Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Contribute to the promotion of legal services across government clients.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Admission (or eligibility) as a legal practitioner in Queensland, with a current practising certificate.

Significant post-admission experience in property law and leasing (corporate, government, or private practice).

Strong technical legal knowledge and the ability to provide high-quality advice with little supervision.

Proven ability to oversee legal teams and ensure high performance.

Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.

Mandatory Requirements

Law degree (or equivalent).

Admission or eligibility for admission in Queensland, with eligibility for a current practising certificate and High Court Register entry.
