About Us:
Tingira Defence Child Care Unit is a well-established early learning service located just a short drive from Nowra’s CBD and the stunning surrounds of Jervis Bay. For over 25 years, we’ve proudly supported Defence families, offering high-quality, inclusive early education for children aged 0–5. Surrounded by bushland and coast, Tingira is uniquely placed to provide rich learning environments while fostering strong ties with the HMAS Albatross and the broader Defence community.
The Opportunity:
We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Centre Director to lead our team in a permanent, full-time capacity. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who thrives on collaboration, embraces variety, and is happy to roll up their sleeves when needed. As Centre Director, you will:
- Lead and mentor a committed team of educators, fostering professional growth and a positive team culture
- Support the implementation of innovative educational programs that inspire curiosity and a love of learning
- Actively contribute to the floor when required, ensuring a strong presence and connection with children and educators
- Ensure clear, effective communication across all levels of the service to support a collaborative and respectful environment
- Maintain full compliance with educational standards and safety regulations
- Drive community engagement, building strong relationships with families and key stakeholders
- Demonstrate excellence in Assessment & Rating, with a history of achieving ‘Meeting’ or ‘Exceeding’ standards
- Be flexible and adaptable, working a rotating roster based on service needs
What You’ll Bring:
- Diploma or Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (or ACECQA-approved equivalent)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a leadership or Director role within early education
- Current Working with Children Check (NSW)
- Sound knowledge of the EYLF, NQS, and relevant compliance frameworks
- A hands-on, can-do attitude with a willingness to be on the floor as needed
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster and adapt to the needs of the service
