Mental Health and Wellbeing Worker

POSITION DETAILS

  • Full-Time, Permanent
  • Classification: SCHADS Level 3: $76,451 - $81,984; per annum + Superannuation
  • Salary packaging arrangements providing tax benefits available for living and entertainment expenses increasing your take home income where part of your wage is paid tax free each pay, savings thousands in tax each year
  • Location: Ipswich Living and Learning Centre, QLD

ABOUT YOUR NEW ROLE

The Living and Learning Centre is funded by the Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN as part of a stepped care approach to meeting the mental health needs of the community. It provides clinical and psychosocial support to individuals experiencing severe and/or complex mental health issues. The centre supports individuals 16 years and over, living in the Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim or Somerset Region. The service usually operates Monday to Friday, 8.30am-5pm.

The team is made up of clinicians and peer coaches that work collaboratively to support consumers accessing our service. This includes centre based and outreach one to one support, as well as facilitation of various self-development group programs. In addition to living and learning centre supports, the team also deliver groups out in community.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Minimum Cert IV in a related field and/or equivalent experience working in a relevant setting.
  • Demonstrates an interest and understanding of others and relates well to people at all levels including the impact of trauma, mental distress and social determinates on health and wellbeing.
  • Proven experience facilitating groups tailored to individuals experiencing mental health distress.
  • Ability to establish respectful professional relationships that have clear boundaries with consumers, staff and partner organisations.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and to prioritise multiple tasks to meet conflicting deadlines.
  • Strong emotional resilience including the ability to sit with discomfort, distress and peoplein crisis.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and build trust to deal with sensitive and difficult situations.
  • Ability to adapt communication style to meet the needs of a diverse range of people and identifies changing needs within a group.
  • Relevant transferrable skills and experience
  • Knowledge of trauma informed care.
  • Strong computer literacy and written communication skills.

WHAT THE ROLE REQUIRES

  • National Criminal History Check (police check) - disclosable outcomes considered
  • Current Working with Children Check - required before commencement of work
  • Australian working rights
  • The capacity to drive/access to a car
