About the role and team

We're looking for Court Security and Custody Officers to join the team at the District Court Building, reporting to our Operations Manager (Shane) and working in a team with our 120 Officers. In the role you'll have a great deal of variety - you may be ensuring courtroom safety in a trial one day and then escorting persons in custody the next.

Our paid training course will commence on 1st December 2025, and will see you join a group of new recruits on our 4 week training program. This role offers a part-time job opportunity, with the potential of full-time employment working between 30 to 38 hours per week. We are eager to hear from all candidates who are looking to venture into a new role in the Court & Custody environment in Perth.

No prior custodial work experience is required for this position and we welcome all applications, particularly those from those with a customer service, retail or hospitality background.

In this role you will:

  • Assist with the management and movement of people in custody throughout the facility
  • Control room monitoring
  • Front-of-house reception and customer service
  • Manage the screening process for the court
  • Provide security during court sessions
  • Conduct patrols in and around the facility
  • Prepare reports including incident reports, OHS reports, risks and intel through to management

What we're looking for

  • Full availability to work a rotating roster between 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM Monday to Friday
  • Available and open to full time opportunities
  • Be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical assessment
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to build rapport with people from different backgrounds
  • Available to commence 4 week training course commencing on 1 December 2025 (Annual Leave can be taken for the festive period upon training completion)

The recruitment process

G4S runs a staged recruitment process that includes:

  • Applying online with a CV
  • Completing a Virtual Job Preview
  • Attending a Group Information session and one to one interview at location in Perth (1.5 hours)
  • Background checks, including a national police check, reference checks and a medical assessment.
  • Complete an application for a High Security Licence in WA (No cost to you, just time to complete the application process)
