An exciting opportunity exists to work for one of Southwest Queensland's most dynamic and responsive community organisations. Lifeline Darling Downs and Southwest Queensland Limited (LDDSWQL) has been serving the community of Toowoomba, and the wider South Western Queensland area for 50 years. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual for the role of Financial Counsellor as part of our Programs and Community team.
About the Role
Providing financial counselling and consumer advocacy services across the Darling Downs, Lockyer Valley, Goondiwindi, Balonne (St George), Maranoa and Warrego regions. Our Financial Counsellors support clients with information, options and advocacy to individuals and families who find themselves in financial difficulties. This is an incredibly rewarding role and you will be part of a team of experienced Financial Counsellors and other counsellors and support staff who work across our region.
Key Responsibilities for the Role include (but are not limited to):
- Work collaboratively with clients on debt and recovery issues, budget development, superannuation, insurances and handling complex cases including bankruptcy and consumer investigation.
- Provide confidential, accurate and efficient data input and records management.
- Engage, advocate and refer effectively with target groups and key stakeholders, including creditors and traders.
- Deliver groups and workshops across service areas to support Financial Literacy initiatives as required.
- To ensure effective case management, intake, referral management and the maintenance of case records.
- Comply with the Agency’s Quality Assurance requirements.

Key Selection Criteria
- A Diploma of Community Services (Financial Counselling) or currently enrolled and working towards completion of a Diploma of Community Services (Financial Counselling).
- Current member of relevant State / Territory peak body relating to financial counselling and/or provision of financial services (i.e. Financial Counsellor’s Association of Queensland) or demonstrated ability to meet membership criteria.
- Current “C” class drivers’ licence.
- Positive Blue Card
