About the role
Mater’s Allied Health team are searching for an Audiology Assistant to support the team with a range of clinical and support tasks to contribute to patient care. This opportunity is a Permanent Part-time role (up to 22.5 hours per week) based at South Brisbane.
The Audiology team provides a broad range of diagnostic audiology services including vestibular testing and suitability for cochlear implantation. There is a private paediatric service as well as an outpatient service providing specialist services for patients with hearing and/or balance disorders with a large adult Cochlear Implant program including an outreach service providing post operative rehabilitation.
Salary range: $34.02 - $35.66 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
Typical tasks will include:
- Set up and maintain cochlear implant spare parts
- Support the management of Cochlear Implant Program equipment while also assisting with patient troubleshooting and advice
- Assisting with paediatric audiology testing
- Provide education to patients on a defined range of topics
- Assist clinicians with clinical documentation preparation and data entry
- Support clinicians with distribution of assessment reports
- Document in patient records and provide feedback to delegating allied health practitioner
- Assist patients with applications to access government and community support
- Provide supervision, training and support to allied health assistant students and volunteers
- Collaboration with clinicians for relevant caseloads
- Support patients and allied health practitioners with telehealth set up and troubleshooting
- Develop and maintain clinical resources, forms and patient education materials
- Stocktake and order clinical equipment, supplies and consumables
About you
The successful candidate will have:
- Certificate IV or Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance would be highly regarded
- Proven ability to work autonomously under a defined scope of delegated practice, in a complex and demanding work environment
- Effective communicator who works collaboratively
- Proven organisation, prioritising and resourceful problem solving skills
- Sound computer and digital literacy skills
- Experience working in a similar role in either a hospital, sub acute, disability or community health setting would be highly regarded
