Want to work as a Grader Operator in a dynamic team environment in your local Council? This job could be for you!

In this role, you will be contributing to the effective and efficient operation of the Works Department by performing plant operation duties and many others.

Term: Permanent, Full-time

Hours of Work: 76 hours per fortnight

Pay Level: $2,448.39 per fortnight (Level 6), plus 12% superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading

In addition to the above pay rate, you will receive payment of the following current applicable allowance:

Construction Allowance - $80.90 per fortnight

In accordance with Council's Enterprise Agreement and the relevant Award.

Employment Base: Warwick, Queensland

About the Department

The Works Department falls within the Infrastructure, Assets and Projects Directorate to deliver essential services to the community by planning, designing, constructing and maintaining roads, bridges, culverts, stormwater infrastructure, kerb and channel, footpaths and street lighting. In addition, the Works department provides services to the Department of Transport and Main Roads under contract to maintain sections of the state-controlled road network within Southern Downs. The department further governs activities conducted by members of the community, such as the construction of private driveway accesses.
Working within the SDRC Works Department will offer you the satisfaction of directly delivering infrastructure services for the Southern Downs community.

  • Safely and competently operate the relevant Plant;
  • Undertake basic preventative maintenance on the Plant;
  • Perform general labouring duties on site;
  • Undertake operation of other Plant for which the position holder is licensed.

What You Will Need

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • The legal right to live and work in Australia;
  • Extensive experience and recent high-level operation of the relevant Plant in a civil construction environment;
  • Experience and understanding of the appropriate preventative maintenance of relevant Plant;
  • Knowledge of Work Health and Safety considerations relevant to the role and how to limit risk in the environment where this role operates;
  • Proven ability to work with limited or no supervision;
  • Current certificate for Working in Proximity to Traffic Awareness, Parts 1 & 2, OR have the ability to obtain;
  • Statement of Attainment from a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) for the relevant Plant;
  • Occupational Health and Safety Construction Card (White Card);
  • A Class C (Car) licence or greater;
  • To be able to demonstrate your competence in relation to all of the Selection Criteria as detailed in the Position Description.
