Behaviour Support Practitioner
Employment Type
Full-time, part-time, or casual (you choose)
Local and FIFO opportunities available
Ready to make a real impact? Psychsense is growing, and we’re looking for passionate professionals to help us build empowered, inclusive, and connected communities.
This is not your average behaviour support role. At Psychsense, you’ll be part of a values-driven team that’s reshaping how therapeutic support looks and feels in regional WA. Whether you’re based locally or exploring FIFO opportunities, you’ll have the chance to do meaningful work in a supportive and flexible environment.
We welcome applications from experienced Behaviour Support Practitioners (Core or Proficient level) as well as Provisional Psychologists looking to meet the 5+1 internship requirements, thanks to our ability to supplement caseloads with multiple referral streams and diverse clinical opportunities.
About the Role
As a Behaviour Support Practitioner at Psychsense, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering Specialist Behaviour Support services under the NDIS framework. You will work closely with individuals, families, carers, and support networks to develop practical, person-centred strategies that improve quality of life, reduce behaviours of concern, and build lasting capacity.
Your approach will be empowering, trauma-informed, and grounded in rights-based practice, with a clear focus on reducing or eliminating the need for restrictive practices. Every aspect of your work is guided by our EPIC values: Empowerment, Professionalism, Inclusion, and Connection to ensure that the people we support can thrive in environments where they feel safe, respected, and connected.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct functional behaviour assessments (FBAs) to understand the function of behaviours of concern.
Develop interim and comprehensive Behaviour Support Plans in line with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission requirements.
Provide training, coaching, and capacity building to families, carers, and frontline staff to embed strategies consistently.
Monitor and review plans to track progress, measure outcomes, and adjust as needed.
Ensure all plans comply with requirements for regulated restrictive practices, with a focus on reduction and elimination.
Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and liaise with schools, allied health, medical professionals, and community organisations.
Maintain clear documentation and reporting in line with NDIS standards and Psychsense expectations.
Our ideal candidates:
You’re the kind of person who thrives on collaboration and connection. You enjoy working alongside families, support networks, and community stakeholders to create practical strategies that make a real difference.
You bring both heart and skill to your practice, balancing compassion, understanding, and kindness with a strong foundation in evidence-based approaches. You understand the theory behind behaviour and know how to translate it into strategies that actually work in real life.
You take pride in your ability to think critically, analyse complex situations, and communicate your insights clearly in writing.
You’re also reflective and resilient — open to feedback, committed to your own growth, and able to keep calm and grounded even in complex or challenging situations. You value integrity, inclusivity, and the belief that small, intentional changes can create lasting impact.
Most importantly, you’re committed to ongoing growth — whether you’re already qualified in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Education, or a related discipline, or you’re still working toward completion. You see this role as an opportunity to develop your expertise and expand your impact.
