The Wilderness Group has been delivering high-quality outdoor programs, school camps, excursions, and nature-based tourism experiences for over 35 years. We are South Australia’s largest provider of outdoor education and one of the leading organisations nationally.
We currently have Full Time and Casual Instructor vacancies, with both mid-week and weekend work available.
About the Role
We are looking for passionate and capable individuals to join our busy team to facilitate outdoor learning experiences and adventure-based activities.
If you have worked as an outdoor adventure leader with schools or other organisations, or hold relevant outdoor qualifications, we would love to hear from you. Opportunities to work weekdays and weekends are available.
Requirements (prior to employment)
You will need to hold, or be willing to obtain:
Provide First Aid Certificate (Wilderness First Aid preferred)
Australian or New Zealand residency, or a valid working visa with clear travel plans
Child Safe Environments / Responding to Abuse and Neglect training (can be provided)
South Australian Working with Children Check (if applying from interstate)
Desirable Qualifications
The Wilderness Group provides a wide range of outdoor experiences for people of all ages. The following qualifications are highly valued (preference given to Certificate IV or Diploma in Outdoor Leadership or a related degree):
Bushwalking – Difficult Tracked / Untracked
Cycle Touring – On Road / Off Road
Sea Kayak (Enclosed) or Moving Water 1 Kayak/Canoe
Sailing Small Boats
Surfing – Basic / Intermediate
Challenge Course – Low / High Elements
Climbing & Abseiling – Artificial / Natural Surfaces
Snorkeling Instruction – Lead snorkeling activities or PADI or SSI Dive Mater
Surf Rescue Certificate or Bronze Medallion
LR (Bus) License – highly desirable
To apply for a Full-Time position, applicants must hold at least two field qualifications and an LR License (with accreditation).
All Australian National Training Package qualifications are accepted, and international qualifications will be considered.
