Position overview

As a Motor Mechanic at Disara Automotive Services, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional automotive repair and maintenance services meeting the customer requirements. You will be primarily responsible for maintaining, testing and repairing engines and the mechanical components of lightweight motor vehicles.

Job Description

As a motor mechanic, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including but not limited to:

Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in petrol, diesel, and hybrid vehicle systems using dealer-level diagnostic tools.

Troubleshoot engine performance issues, warning lights, and drivability complaints through electronic scanning and manual inspection.

Dismantle and remove engine components, brake systems, steering assemblies, and suspension units for inspection and repair.

Conduct detailed inspections of removed components such as rotors, pads, struts, and control arms to assess wear or damage.

Repair or replace faulty mechanical parts including brake pads, shock absorbers, exhaust systems, timing belts, and gaskets using appropriate tools and service manuals.

Install new or refurbished parts in accordance with manufacturer specifications and customer requirements.

Reconnect wiring and diagnostic connections to verify proper integration of repaired components.

Carry out regular servicing including oil and filter changes, fluid top-ups, spark plug replacements, air and fuel filter changes, and full safety checks.

Test vehicles after repairs to ensure optimal functionality using both road testing and workshop diagnostic equipment.

Adjust braking, steering, and suspension systems to manufacturer tolerances after part replacement or servicing.

Perform tune-ups and general maintenance to improve vehicle performance and reduce emissions in compliance with environmental standards.

Inspect vehicles for compliance with Victorian roadworthiness standards.

Issue or withhold Roadworthy Certificates (RWCs) based on inspection outcomes and clearly communicate required repairs to customers.

Qualifications

AQF Certificate III in light motor vehicle engineering or higher

Minimum one year of experience with light vehicle engines, particularly in the repair and maintenance of light vehicles.

Technical expertise in diagnostic equipment and mechanical systems.

The ability to work efficiently in a team environment, with a focus on delivering quality services.
