Melbourne Teaching Health Clinics (MTHC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Melbourne and provides world class clinical training opportunities for the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences students. It also provides patient access to high quality health care for members of the Victorian community, within a private practice setting. There are six clinical areas that are central to this service, and they include general medical practice, dentistry, optometry, audiology, speech pathology and psychology.

About the Role
Are you an experienced Speech Pathologist seeking a meaningful part-time role where you can make a genuine impact in client care and clinical education? We are inviting applications from established Level 2 Speech Pathologists, as well as from capable early career Speech Pathologists who are ready to progress to a Level 2 position—with dedicated support and mentoring to ensure your success. In this clinical educator role, you’ll be part of a dynamic and collaborative team that values excellence, growth, and the highest standards of care. In this position, you'll provide compassionate, evidence-based care to either a paediatric caseload or an adult caseload while mentoring the next generation of speech pathologists. Working closely with our Clinic Director and other Speech Pathologists, you'll contribute to our teaching clinic's mission of delivering exceptional clinical services. Your expertise will be invaluable in shaping our clinical initiatives and maintaining our high standards of care. Key performance indicators will focus on clinical education, quality care provision, and your contributions to exciting and new clinical programs.

About you

Essential Selection Criteria
Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology or equivalent, with eligibility for membership in Speech Pathology Australia.
Applicants must be eligible for, or currently hold, CPSP status and be committed to meeting ongoing CPD requirements set by Speech Pathology Australia.
Relevant clinical experience in speech pathology clinical service provision for paediatric or adult clients in a private practice or public health setting.
Demonstrated experience and/or a passion for providing clinical education to speech pathology students and/or junior speech pathology colleagues across their training continuum.
Strong interpersonal, organisational, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate and comply with a range of internal and external stakeholders, so as to (i) develop and maintain effective working relationships; and (ii) promote optimal client outcomes.
Well-developed clinical problem-solving skills in the assessment and management of paediatric or adult clients with communication difficulties across an array of aetiologies, specifically within early intervention and the disability space.
Experience in delivery of collaborative, compassionate, and evidence-based speech pathology services, using a holistic approach, with other stakeholders - taking into consideration each client’s specific needs, as well as their family, social, and medical circumstances.
Capacity for constructive self-reflection and learning from actions and feedback.
Willingness to be flexible and respond to the demands of the workplace, while participating and contributing to a learning environment that prioritises innovation, collaboration, life-long learning, and professional integrity.
A current Australian driver’s license.
Desirable
A sound understanding of trends and issues in speech pathology and clinical education in Australia.
Understanding of reflective practice and lifelong learning in clinical education.
interest in paediatric feeding/swallowing disorders.
Experience in paediatric and/or adult fluency disorders.
Experience in providing assessment, support, and education in the use of Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) systems.
Experience in the assessment and management of literacy difficulties.
Experience in working with clients presenting with complex communication needs associated with different neurotypes (e.g., Autism, ID, ADHD, and other diagnoses).
