Do you have the expertise, compassion, and courage to lead child safety practices in education? We are seeking a Child Safeguarding Officer to champion a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment for children and young people across a network of schools in Victoria, South Australia, and Western Australia.

About the Role This is a pivotal leadership role, serving as the central point of contact for all matters relating to child safety and wellbeing. You will provide expert advice, build capability across schools, and ensure compliance with legislation and safeguarding standards.
Your work will directly contribute to shaping a child-centred culture where safety, dignity, and inclusion are at the forefront.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation, review, and continuous improvement of child safety policies and practices.
• Provide advice and support on complex child safety matters, including mandatory reporting, reportable conduct, and historical concerns.
• Deliver training and resources to strengthen safeguarding awareness and practice across schools.
• Monitor compliance and prepare reports for leadership and external bodies.
• Collaborate with school-based child safety officers, principals, and regulators to ensure consistent best practice.
• Promote the rights and voices of children, with particular attention to Aboriginal children, children with disabilities, and those from culturally diverse communities.

About You You are a confident and empathetic professional with:

• In-depth knowledge of child safety legislation and safeguarding practices across Victoria, South Australia, and Western Australia.
• Experience applying safeguarding principles in education, community, or not-for-profit settings.
• Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to advise on sensitive and complex matters.
• The capacity to build trust while balancing compassion with compliance.
• High-level organisational and problem-solving skills, with discretion and integrity.
• Relevant qualifications in education, law, social work, psychology, or safeguarding (desirable).
