Wayarang isn’t just another agency…
We’re a change agency that blends the creativity of a design studio with the strategic smarts of a consultancy. Our work spans communications campaigns, branding, engagement, and capability-building — helping government, community organisations, and businesses connect with their audiences, deliver their purpose, and create meaningful change.
For our clients, that means bringing together strategy, creativity and cultural perspectives to solve tricky problems big and small. We don’t do cookie-cutter or “tick the box” design. We create work that’s meaningful, grounded, and backed by insights.
For our team, that means working in an environment where people can thrive — where cultural safety, flexibility, and purpose-led work are just part of the way we do things.
We are Indigenous-owned, female-led, and proudly diverse, with a team that includes First Nations people and culturally confident allies from all over the country. If you want to grow your impact, stretch your thinking, and do it in a way that feels good and looks great, you’ll love it here.
What we're looking for
We’re on the hunt for a creative who loves to make ideas real. You might be early in your career, or maybe you’re more experienced and ready to stretch from pure creative into comms and strategy?
Either way, you’ll be the kind of designer who’s curious, detail-driven, and committed to making work that sparks connection.
What you'll be doing
Designing across print and digital — from campaign collateral and merchandise to social content, presentations and reports
Creating accessible (WCAG compliant), audience-friendly work that applies brand systems faithfully while still being creative
Supporting our partners and project leads to bring concepts to life with clarity and impact
Preparing production-ready files for print and digital
Contributing to creative thinking, problem-solving and concept development
(If you’re interested) building your skills in copywriting, communications or creative strategy alongside the design work
What you bring to the table
Strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and Figma
An eye for layout, typography, and creative detail
Experience working within brand systems and producing assets from concept to delivery
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-moving environment
Curiosity and creativity — willing to try new things and explore different ways to meet the brief
Bonus points if you have…
Motion or animation skills
Illustration skills
Copywriting or communications experience
Experience with communications or creative strategy
Knowledge of accessibility, inclusivity, or sustainability in design
Remuneration and benefits
Remuneration
At Wayarang, we believe that fair pay isn’t just a number — it’s about valuing our people. Salary for this role will be negotiated based on experience and expertise, ensuring that the right candidate is compensated in a way that reflects their contributions and impact.
As a guide, we expect this role to sit somewhere between $70,000 – $100,000 + super, depending on whether you’re junior, mid-weight, or more experienced.
Benefits
Flexible work arrangements – Work where and how you work best, with hybrid and fully remote options available.
Professional development – Whether it’s training, certifications, or attending industry or cultural conferences, we invest in your growth.
Generous paid leave policies – Including parental leave, cultural leave, and Sorry Business leave, because life outside of work matters too.
Career progression opportunities – We don’t just fill roles; we help people grow into leadership.
Technology allowance – If you work remotely, we’ll support you with the right tools and setup to do your best work.
How to apply
Send us your portfolio and tell us about yourself — the work you’re proud of, the problems you love to solve, and the skills you want to grow. We’re less interested in your years of experience, and more interested in your thinking, your craft, and your care, so make sure these shine through your application.
As part of the recruitment process, shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete a paid work sample — a small creative brief typical of the work you’d do with us. We’ll pay you for your time and review the output (proof, finished art, and working files) to get a sense of both your creative and professional quality.
While this is not an identified role, we strongly encourage First Nations candidates to apply.
