THE ROLE
Trinity Anglican College is seeking a passionate and experienced teacher to join our dedicated and talented PDHPE team. This opportunity is offered as a full-time ongoing role commencing Term 1 2026.
Teachers are responsible for providing quality content and continuity of learning experiences for students; the delivery of best quality programs, teaching and learning activities and the achievement of student outcomes for all students within the subject area.
A love of teaching and learning, initiative, an optimistic outlook, great organisational skills, excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to professional learning are all prerequisites for the position.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
The key responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to):
Teaching PDHPE curriculum including 7-10 PDHPE, Stage 5 PASS, Stage 6 HMS, SLR and/or CAFS.
Plan and implement coherent, well sequenced teaching and learning programs that engage students and maximise learning.
Use a range of teaching strategies to deliver quality teaching programs that are responsive to the learning strengths and needs of students.
Develop, select, and use informal and formal, formative and summative assessment strategies to assess student learning.
Prepare and deliver timely and targeted feedback and reports to students and parents.
Organise and deliver, as part of a team, various external curriculum experiences for students, for example, outdoor recreation (mountain biking, hiking), aquatics, and local sporting opportunities.
Awareness of risk management processes when planning activities (utilised through the College planning tool Consent2Go)
Support the College Code of Conduct and Behaviour Management program:
Apply a care-based, restorative and solution-focused approach to managing student issues in consultation with parents as appropriate.
Keep the Head of House informed of significant student issues.
Be alert to, and act upon, instances endangering student safety.
Being punctual and diligent in classroom, playground and other supervisory duties.
Being courteous, firm, consistent and fair in dealings with students.
Responding appropriately to breaches of the College’s behaviour management and uniform policies.
Pastoral Care Program:
Actively participate in College pastoral care and well-being programs, including being a House Mentor.
Attend one College camp during the year, involving at least two nights away.
Lead and support students’ academic, pastoral and spiritual needs in the roles of classroom teacher and House Mentor.
Other duties of all teachers:
Actively participate in the College Cocurricular Program.
Carry out supervisory duties as required and rostered.
Participate in department meetings, school meetings and College briefings, some of which may occur outside normal school hours.
Participate in school functions including Chapels, Assemblies, and Student Progress Meetings.
Model exemplary behaviour reflective of the values and ethos of the College.
Any other duties as determined by the Principal.
SKILLS
Ability to organise and deliver, as part of a team, various external curriculum experiences for students, for example, outdoor recreation (mountain biking, hiking), aquatics, and local sporting opportunities.
Skilled in managing commitments to meet allocated timelines
Strong collaboration and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to work efficiently independently.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
Well-organised and committed.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Proven experience teaching PDHPE in Years 7-10 within the NSW curriculum framework.
Experience in planning and delivering Stage 5 PASS units is highly desirable.
Experience teaching Stage 6 PDHPE subjects (HMS, CAFS and/or SLR) is highly desirable.
Attendance at appropriate professional development activities relating to the teaching of PDHPE.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
The Key Selection Criteria used to select the PDHPE Teacher are:
Demonstrated experience teaching NSW/NESA PDHPE courses for Years 7–10, with evidence of effective curriculum delivery and student engagement.
Qualifications and experience in teaching Stage 5 PASS, including the ability to design and implement engaging practical and theoretical units.
Qualifications and experience in teaching Stage 6 PDHPE courses, such as Health and Movement Science (HMS), Community and Family Studies (CAFS), and/or Sport, Lifestyle and Recreation (SLR), with a strong understanding of syllabus requirements and assessment practices.
Knowledge of current educational issues and opportunities relating to the teaching of PDHPE in schools.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, staff and parents of the College.
REMUNERATION
Terms and Conditions of employment will be in accordance with the ‘Anglican Schools Commission Inc. NSW Enterprise Agreement 2023’. Remuneration will be determined by the Principal according to qualifications and experience.
