About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and community-minded Swimming Pool Compliance Officer to lead inspection and enforcement activities that ensure swimming pools and land use across the region meet safety and regulatory standards. In this vital role, you'll help protect public health, support responsible development and contribute to a safer, well-planned built environment for the entire community.

Reporting directly to the Lead - Compliance, the main duties for this role include:

  • Conduct inspections and investigations into swimming pool safety, unauthorised development, illegal land clearing, and other breaches, preparing reports and evidence for legal proceedings as needed.
  • Enforce a range of legislation including the Swimming Pools Act, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Local Government Act, Protection of the Environment Operations Act, and relevant Council policies.
  • Respond to community complaints, assess building certificate applications, and issue notices and orders to address non-compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to resolve complex compliance issues and provide detailed recommendations.
  • Communicate effectively with the public, including managing conflict and negotiating outcomes, while maintaining a strong focus on education and community safety.

This is a grade range position, therefore in accordance with qualifications, accreditation, experience and demonstrated skills, the prospective employee will be assessed as either Grade 9, 10 or 11.

Grade 9 - $82,529 - $96,073 gross p.a. plus 12% Super

Grade 10 - $91,148 - $104,698 gross p.a. plus 12% Super

Grade 11 - $99,775 - $113,318 gross p.a. plus 12% Super


About You
To be successful in the position, you will have:

  • Certificate IV in Investigation, Local Government Regulatory Compliance or currently enrolled in Building Surveying or Town Planning qualifications or equivalent combined with relevant experience in the field of investigation and enforcement or relevant experience in the field of investigation and enforcement
  • SafeWork NSW Construction Induction Certificate (White Card) or ability to obtain
  • Be an accredited Swimming Pool Inspector or be willing to obtain the accreditation.
  • Detailed knowledge of the legislation and standards relating to swimming pools including Swimming Pools Act 1992 and Regulation 2018, and AS 1926 Parts 1 and 2
  • Current Class C Driver's Licence
  • Proof of Australian residency or citizenship
