Peer Support Worker
Redcliffe Youth Space
Posted 5 days ago
We’re looking for caring, approachable people to join our Safe Space team as Peer Support Workers.
Success in this role isn’t about formal qualifications. What matters is your willingness to listen deeply, offer genuine support, and walk alongside people in our community without judgement.
Based at our Redcliffe space, the Safe Space program provides a welcoming and supportive place for people experiencing psychological distress.
As a Safe Space Peer Support Worker, you will:
Welcome people into the space and help them feel safe and comfortable.
Listen to their story and explore what kind of support might help right now.
Provide social and emotional support through conversation, connection, and sharing information about local services (and making a cuppa or two!)
Record key details in our visitor database (with guest permission) so people don’t have to retell their story each time they come back.
You can learn more about the Safe Space program https://mymentalhealth.org.au/safespaces
This is an amazing entry role if you’re looking to build a career in mental health or community services. We’ll provide all the training and support you need, including the opportunity to complete a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (CHC43515), with clear pathways to grow into other roles within the organisation.
We offer:
Salary of $68,000 per year (paid pro-rata)
Penalty rates and salary sacrifice options to boost your take home pay
Fixed term contract with the possibility of extension
Flexibility to balance work, family, volunteering, or study commitments - with full-time, part-time, or casual hours available
An experienced and supportive team to help you thrive in the role
The chance to make a real difference in the lives of people in our community
We aim to reflect the diverse community which we service. We run an inclusive and accessible recruitment process and encourage people of all ages, LGBTIQA+ identities, cultural backgrounds and lived experience of disability to apply. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to better accommodate your individual needs through this process.
If this role sounds interesting and you’d like to know more, please contact Kathryn by emailing [email protected]
To apply, please submit your CV and a cover letter that tells us how you would intentionally draw on your lived experience to connect with and support others.
APPLICATIONS RECEIVED VIA THIRD PARTIES (RECRUITMENT AGENCIES ETC.) WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED
APPLICATIONS CLOSE COB FRIDAY 10TH OCTOBER
