The Balonne Shire is located along the beautiful Balonne River, just five hours' drive west of Brisbane on the QLD-NSW border. Balonne Shire Council has a dedicated team of 110+ staff and population of 4,500 people who live in the surrounding towns of St George, Thallon, Dirranbandi, Bollon, Nindigully, Mungindi and Hebel.

About the Position:

The Mechanic is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations and maintenance of Council’s workshop, plant, equipment and vehicles.

About you:

Current trade certifications in Automotive Mechanical Technology (Heavy Vehicle) or Engineering Mechanical Trade (Heavy Plant Mechanic)

Current Forklift Licence

Basic computer skills

Ability to work within teams, with regular supervision, including ability to ensure work tasks continue in the absence of a supervisor

Strong organisational skills

Can work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Heavy plant, equipment and light vehicle mechanical experience

What we offer:

This is a full-time, permanent position, salary cash component – Level C10 - $64,298 per annum, plus a locality allowance of $1,945 per annum

9-day fortnight (fortnightly rostered days off)

4 weeks annual leave

15 days sick leave
