About our Centre

Welcome to Milestones Fern Bay! We're passionate about educating our children on the importance and benefits of making healthy choices and enjoying nutritious meals. We are on the lookout for our next Cook to join our fun-loving team at our Newcastle services on a casual basis.

The role

• This role enables you to play an active part in creating healthy menus.
• You’ll have access to a national network of centre cooks who regularly share recipes, questions, ideas and tips!
• You’ll also be encouraged to utilise the amazing feed Australia program – a free program enabling cooks to plan, budget and access healthy menus to enable children’s growth and development while in child care.

About you

• Previous experience as a Cook.
• Able to prepare, implement and evaluate the nutritional content of menus for children of all ages
• Experienced in bulk meal preparation, online ordering, stock management and budget control
• Strict about complying with relevant food safety and hygiene regulations and standards
• Able to cater for individual child requirements including allergies, specific dietary requirements and needs
• Keen to participate in the early educational opportunities of teaching children about healthy food by sharing in lessons and family events

About you

We're seeking applicant

• Current Food Safety and Handlers (Health and Community) Certificate
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery/equivalent (desirable)
• Driver's Licence and Car.
• Current first aid certificate (including asthma and anaphylactic training) and resuscitation certificate
• Ability to undergo a Background check.
