About the Team
The Chief Clinical Advisor division the centre of clinical expertise within the Commission. It provides clinical advice to inform regulatory decision-making when clinical risks have been identified. It also delivers education, training and resources for the Commission and aged care sector to raise awareness of clinical risk and the promotion of best practice clinical and aged care.
This division employs a range of experienced and qualified clinicians, including:
- Nurses
- Pharmacists
- Dietitians
- Speech Pathologists
This division is headed by the Chief Clinical Advisor, who is a specialist in geriatric medicine.
About the Role
We are establishing a new opportunity for a full-time First Nations Clinical Support (APS 6) position within the Chief Clinical Advisor Division. The Chief Clinical Advisor Division provides clinical subject matter expertise and advice to support the functions of the Commission, as well as assisting aged care providers to deliver the best possible outcomes for older people by promoting and supporting evidence-based practice and providing advice to internal and external stakeholders. In this role, you will promote and advise on culturally safe, trauma-informed care for older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, to ensure that their identity, experiences, and cultural beliefs and practices, are respected and incorporated into their ongoing care. The First Nations Clinical Support is rewarding and enables those with experience in delivering health and or aged care services to apply and share their skills, knowledge, experiences, and passion for culturally safe and high-quality care outcomes for older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provision of support and advice (verbal and written) to business units within the Chief Clinical Advisor Division and wider Commission as required, on culturally safe, trauma-informed care for older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, in collaboration with the Assistant Director. This may include support during site visits and during provider meetings.
- Assist with the provision of subject matter expertise in relation to education and resource development on clinical topics related to culturally safe, trauma-informed care for older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, for internal and external stakeholders.?
- Supporting the Assistant Director with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander related data management, quality assurance activities, governance activities and knowledge uplift activities, across the Chief Clinical Advisor Division.
- Participate in the Chief Clinical Advisor Division’s First Nations Working Group.
- Contribute to the Commission’s Reconciliation Action Plan.
- Maintain a close working relationship with the Commission’s Indigenous Staff Network.
- Contribute to the Chief Clinical Advisor Division’s transition to the Commission’s new Regulatory Operating Model.
- Contribute to broader activities across the Chief Clinical Advisor Division as required, in collaboration with the Assistant Director.
Position Details
- Salary offered will be between $96,503 - $108,869 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.

- Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for an irregular/intermittent term. Opportunities will be offered for varying periods up to 12 months with the option to extend to a total of 24 months.
