- This is a Full-Time (1.0 FTE) contracted role until 31 December 2025, transitioning to a Part-Time (0.5 FTE) appointment from 1 January 2026 through to 18 September 2026.
About the role
As the Lead Research Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will oversee the delivery of the Nuclear Medicine Research Program at the RAH, providing strategic technical direction, leadership, and clinical supervision to a multidisciplinary team. You will play a key role in managing radiopharmaceutical supply and licensing for novel tracers, ensuring compliance with ethics, EPA radiation, and patient safety requirements. In addition, you will be responsible for managing research trial feasibility, data, funding, and logistics, all while maintaining the highest standards of safety and clinical governance.
In this role, you will also monitor and sustain complex clinical services, drive continuous quality improvement, and contribute to policy development and staff education. Alongside these leadership responsibilities, you will maintain a clinical workload as an Accredited Nuclear Medicine Technologist, applying advanced methodologies and techniques in service delivery. About You
You are an accomplished Nuclear Medicine Technologist with advanced clinical expertise and a strong foundation in research, safety, and quality practice. With excellent leadership and communication skills, you thrive in multidisciplinary environments and are committed to advancing patient care, innovation, and professional standards.
Registered (or eligible) with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia in Nuclear Medicine, holding the appropriate degree and required licences for the safe use and handling of radioactive materials and radiation apparatus.
Extensive clinical experience across Nuclear Medicine, including PET, SPECT and Bone Densitometry, supported by advanced knowledge of quality assurance, RIS, PACS, and electronic medical record systems.
Demonstrated expertise in research governance, clinical trials, and protocol development, with a strong track record in coordination, publication, and international collaboration.
Proven leadership, problem-solving, and organisational skills, with the ability to manage change, meet deadlines, and uphold the highest standards of safety, ethics, and patient-centred care.
