Mark My Words is a fast-growing EdTech platform designed to transform how English teachers assess student work, saving them time and enhancing feedback quality. Our AI-powered tools transcribe handwritten essays, track student progress against curriculum skills, and help educators deliver timely, personalised, and impactful feedback. We are a passionate team dedicated to reducing teacher workload and improving student outcomes.

What You'll Do

Build and maintain our user-facing application using our modern stack: Next.js, React, and TypeScript.

Translate UI/UX designs into high-quality, responsive, and accessible code for teachers and students.

Collaborate with backend, product, and design teams to ship new features and improvements.

Write clean, scalable, and well-tested code and participate actively in code reviews.

Optimise application components for maximum performance and scalability.

Skills & Experience

What you'll bring:

Proven professional experience building complex applications with React, Next.js, and TypeScript.

Minimum 3+ years of professional experience with React, Next.js, and TypeScript is required.

Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript, HTML, and CSS (e.g., Tailwind CSS, CSS-in-JS).

Experience consuming RESTful APIs.

Familiarity with front end testing frameworks like Jest or React Testing Library.

A collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills.

Current Australian work authorisation is required at the time of application.

Bonus points for:

Experience with modern TypeScript ORMs like Drizzle to interact with SQL databases.

General backend development experience, particularly with Node.js.

Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and cloud platforms (Vercel, Azure)
