Orana Support Service (OSS) is a not-for-profit community organization based in Dubbo. Our Op Shop and Food Pantry not only provide affordable goods and essential food support to families, but also play a key role in strengthening community connections and supporting local households in need.

About the Role

We are seeking a Full-Time Retail Assistant to join our Op Shop and Food Pantry team. Working from Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, this role is central to ensuring our shop and pantry run smoothly and provide a welcoming, supportive environment for the community.

Key Responsibilities

Preparing, displaying, and selling goods in the shop.

Assisting customers with purchases, advice, and support.

Handling cash and EFTPOS transactions.

Stocking shelves, pricing items, and keeping displays neat.

Packing and assisting with food pantry operations.

Maintaining cleanliness and safety across the shop and pantry.

Supporting volunteers and contributing to a positive team culture.

About You

We’re looking for someone reliable, approachable, and community-minded. You’ll bring strong customer service skills, a positive attitude, and attention to detail to help keep our Op Shop and Food Pantry running smoothly. Flexible and dependable, you’ll enjoy supporting customers, working with volunteers, and keeping shelves stocked and organized.

Essential:

Strong customer service and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Reliable, punctual, and committed to full-time hours.

Physically able to assist with sorting, lifting, and moving stock.

Basic numeracy and accuracy for handling transactions.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Flexibility to adapt to changing tasks and priorities.

Commitment to workplace health and safety practices.

Knowledge of second-hand retail or food relief operations.

Desirable:

Previous retail, hospitality, or customer service experience.

Cash handling and basic computer skills.
