About the role

We are seeking an experienced Design Team Leader to join our growing team in Canberra, ACT. As the Design Team Leader, you will be responsible to take lead of design team and coordinating the design activities of a team of civil/structural/mechanical/electrical Engineers, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality projects that meet our clients' requirements.

What you'll be doing

Lead and manage a team of design Engineers, providing guidance, mentoring, and performance management.

Coordinate the design process, including task allocation, resource planning, and progress monitoring

Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, and calculations to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations

Collaborate with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and deliver effective design solutions

Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance the efficiency and quality of the design team's work

Contribute to the development and implementation of the company's design standards and guidelines

Providing training to the young and Graduate Engineers

Visiting site to meet the requirement (interstate travel required)

Generating BOQ from the design and organise costing for tender team

Provide technical guidance and support to the design team, helping to resolve complex engineering challenges

What we're looking for

Tertiary qualification in Engineering or a related field

Professional Engineer (CPEng) , RPEQ, RPEV or equivalent registration

Minimum 8 years of experience in engineering design, with demonstrated leadership and management skills

Proven track record in leading and managing a design team, including experience in task allocation, performance management, and team development

Proven track record in utility infrastructure eg. water, sewer, pump station and pipelines.

Strong technical expertise in civil/structural engineering design, with a sound understanding of relevant standards, codes, and regulations

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with clients, project managers, and other team members

Proficiency in using design software and tools, such as AutoCAD, 12D, Revit, and structural analysis software
