Salary: $69,478 - $84,026 per annum (pro rata) + 12% super

The City of Fremantle is currently seeking to appoint a Planning Assistant to our Development Approvals team. This brand-new role has been created to assist the planning team with customer service, administration and planning assessment. This 6-month fixed term contract is a great opportunity for planning students to get exposure to what it is really like to work in a planning team that deals with the diverse, creative centre that is Fremantle! It may also suit someone with prior experience, desire to work in local government administration and assist with planning work.
Key responsibilities include:
Basic development assessment and assistance with customer planning queries.
Property and approval research and advice.
Administrative and customer service tasks.
General business support.
To be considered for this position, you will need:
Ability to interpret and follow procedures and policies.
Demonstrated commitment to customer service and the ability to handle customer enquiries in a courteous, sensitive and effective manner.
Sound written and verbal communication skills.
High level of computer literacy and word processing skills.
Ability to be adaptable and open to change as demand in workflow changes between tasks.
Administrative skills
Knowledge and understanding of relevant town planning legislation and practices associated with development assessment.
