At Positive Transition - Each One Teach One our goal is to provide a safe environment that encourages positive development and growth for all individuals who come through our service. As we continue to grow as a company, we adopt new training frameworks to help provide our team with the tools needed as a Youth Support Worker.
About the position:
We are looking for dedicated and passionate Youth Support Workers to join our team. At Positive Transition – Each One Teach One we are looking for candidates who are eager to learn & grow, who are able to show compassion & accountability and to help inspire our Young People. Working with Young People who demonstrate complex and challenging behaviors requires staff to have the ability to establish rapport quickly and maintain a non-judgmental view.
The position is on casual employment with the opportunity to move onto a part time or full-time position. Positive Transitions offers 24-hour care to our Young People within a residential setting. The rosters consist of day, afternoon, weekend shifts and overnight stays. All successful applicants will start on a casual position with the opportunity to move onto part-time or full-time employment.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide guidance and support to our Young People in everyday challenges
Build a strong connection and trust with our Young People, acting like a role model.
Complete necessary shift reports, incident reports and other administrative tasks if needed.
Assisting the Young People to uphold cleanliness and hygiene within the houses.
Encourage and support our young people to complete & follow daily tasks to promote life-skills development.
Helping with life skills such as cooking, cleaning & personal care.
Weekly paid training is included within the position, which allows all staff to come together to share and learn from each other
Work alongside other support workers to create consistency in our Young Peoples lives.
Essential Criteria:
(Please note we do expect all candidates to have the below or be able to obtain before commencing work)
Possess or be enrolled in Certificate IV or higher in relevant field prior to commencing
Hold a valid blue card and yellow card
Minimum experience of 6 months in Youth Work; however not necessary
A valid First Aid and CPR Certificate
Current valid driver's license
National Crime Check
Hope and Healing certification; however not necessary as training is provided by Positive Transition - Each One Teach One
