This is a rare opportunity to work on a nation-shaping energy infrastructure project from the centre of government. You’ll join a small, capable team advising on the Commonwealth’s interests in a major intergovernmental initiative. Your contribution will help guide policy, delivery and funding decisions at the highest levels.

Who You Are

• Strong understanding and background of energy, transmission and NEM.
• You bring deep experience in either project delivery or project finance and you’re confident owning a workstream.
• In delivery: you’ve led infrastructure projects ($10M+), contributed to larger ones ($100M+), or advised on megaprojects ($1B+).
• In finance: you’ve worked on major investment decisions, asset transactions, due diligence or funding structures, ideally in infrastructure or capital markets.
• You think critically, communicate clearly and write advice that influences decision-makers.
• You’re collaborative, calm under pressure, and good at navigating ambiguity and intergovernmental complexity.

Key Duties

Depending on your background and the focus of your role, your work may include:

Leading or supporting one of the core workstreams: project delivery, intergovernmental governance, or project finance.

Developing clear, concise advice and analysis across technical, regulatory or financial domains.

Drafting high-quality ministerial and executive briefings, submissions and talking points.

Coordinating cross-agency input for senior decision-making forums and governance boards.

Managing Commonwealth processes such as procurement, contracts or budget proposals.

Liaising with state and territory governments, regulators and private sector stakeholders.

Identifying risks, opportunities and gaps

Mentoring junior staff and contributing to a positive, collegiate team environment.
