We are actively searching for an Animal Technician who can undertake farm operations and provide hands on support in the execution of R&D clinical studies.

The role
The Animal Technician supports research and development activities by providing key support in animal care and husbandry, farming practices, general farm and facility maintenance.
You will
Establish relationships with key stakeholders to ensure operational and study needs are completed to an acceptable standard. e.g. study documentation, husbandry tasks, handling of animals, ordering of feed and animals.
Support the technical servicing of R&D studies.
Carry out routine animal husbandry and animal handling procedures.
Operate and maintain equipment which is used in daily operations e.g. tractors and forklifts.
Undertake farming operations e.g. spraying, sowing, irrigation.
Undertake basic maintenance of farm infrastructure: farm fencing, water troughs, yards.
Operate and maintain a feed mill for the production of study diets.
Ensure accurate animal data is maintained.
Provide afterhours support as required and participate in weekend rosters.
To be successful
Bachelor degree in Animal/Agricultural Science or substantial experience.
Related industry work experience within an animal research or production role
Sound knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Advanced ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
Ability to work independently as well as a team member or leader.
Have ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Forklift License, Tractor VOC and Chem Cert or willingness to undertake training.
