Pay: $35.19 to $55.33 p/hour + salary packaging + 12% super

About the role:

We’re looking for a rewarding Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join our team! In this role, you’ll provide occupational therapy assessments and therapy to children and adults across Deaf Connect programs, including NDIS, Healthy Hearing monitoring, Hear for Kids in School, and other fee-for-service programs.

You’ll be supported through mentoring within our Therapy Services team and have access to a generous professional development budget to grow your skills and knowledge. We also support your Auslan learning journey with formal training and opportunities to use Auslan in a multi-disciplinary team.

This role offers variety you’ll work in our centre, via tele-practice, and in community settings such as childcare centres, kindergartens, and schools. Travel between clients is part of the job, giving you time to catch up on your favourite podcasts or audiobooks. You’ll work closely with children and their families, supporting their communication choices, values, and embracing Auslan as the language of the Deaf community.

This is a family-friendly role, mainly working during school terms. We offer flexible working hours and a hybrid work-from-home/office model, so you can balance work with your other commitments.

Main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Conduct assessments for children and write clear, formal reports, including for NDIS.
  • Develop, plan, and deliver programs tailored to each participant’s needs.
  • Provide timely, effective, and appropriate clinical care.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date case notes and progress reports.
  • Work independently and collaboratively within a transdisciplinary team.
  • Engage with children and their families in a way that prioritises the child’s development and needs.
  • Support clinical education by supervising students and helping train new staff, as needed.

About you:

In your application, let us know if you have these key skills and experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent).
  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Knowledge and experience in clinical best practice, Evidence-Based Practice (EBP), and Family Centred Practice (FCP).
  • Understanding of typical and atypical childhood development.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience working independently and as part of a transdisciplinary team.

You should also let us know if you have these other great skills:

  • Ongoing learning or professional development relevant to working with deafness.
  • The ability to manage and prioritise a caseload, adjusting priorities as needed to meet deadlines and respond to urgent matters.
  • Experience in Auslan (highly valued).
