About the role

The Early Intervention Psychological Support Response Service (EIPSRS) provides a person-centred approach to recovery which is tailored to meet the needs of people living with mental ill health in the community. EIPSRS provides an individualised, tiered program of recovery support of up to 12 months delivered to clients with the level of engagement determined by their needs, services include individual support, one-on-one outreach services and group work. The services are designed to enhance recovery, achieve wellbeing goals, build capacity and life skills, maintain sustainable housing, improve relationships with families and carers, develop social and community connections, and live safely and independently in the community.

We are seeking a compassionate, experienced Lead Practitioner to work in the Gippsland Region for a Fixed Term, Full Time opportunity. You will provide practice leadership and coach a team to deliver assertive person-centred outreach services to help clients achieve recovery goals, build capacity and living skills, strengthen social and community connections, maintain housing and live independently. As this position requires travel a fully maintained company car is provided for business use.

Key responsibilities

  • Coach and mentor a team to deliver high quality outreach services and facilitate positive educational and social experiences.
  • Work with clients to enable them to develop independent living skills and a meaningful life by supporting them through a strength-focused, staged approach to recovery using agreed practice techniques and approaches.
  • Promote systemic change by identifying opportunities for service system improvement from individual client work and strengthening community partnerships to encourage innovative and collective solutions.
  • Participate in building a strong team that is built on inclusiveness and respectfulness operating with a high level of professional management in a complex and demanding environment.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders including opinion leaders, community groups, diverse communities, service providers, partners, government agencies, referral sources and other organisations relevant to the work.
  • Make linkages and build relationships and referral pathways to maintain or create a range of local supports for clients that facilitate them living the life of their choosing in their own community.

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Peer Work, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health related field as designated by Mind.
  • Experience and expertise in working directly with people with mental health issues, complex needs and with their families and carers.
  • Proven experience in Community Services, Mental Health, Disability, Social Welfare, Housing, Healthcare or Government sectors is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the application of theoretical approaches, practices and appropriate service responses including family inclusive practice, trauma informed theory, cognitive behavioural therapy, motivational interviewing and harm reduction therapy.
  • Proven capability to coach, mentor and develop a team to achieve best quality service outcomes including experience in the provision of professional supervision.
