Mars Recruitment is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (Grade 5) for a short-term contract in a busy rural health facility located in Central Queensland. About the Role

You’ll be working in a small rural hospital with a 12-bed acute inpatient unit and emergency department, supported by a range of outpatient and allied health services. The facility offers exposure to a wide variety of clinical presentations, making it ideal for nurses looking to broaden their scope of practice.

Start Date: 29 September 2025

End Date: 9 November 2025

Shifts: Rotating 8 and 12-hour shifts (as per roster)

Hours: Up to 80 hours per fortnight (overtime applies beyond this)

Mandatory Requirements

Proven experience in rural nursing and emergency care

Current BLS and ALS certification

Completion of Emergency Triage Education Kit (ETEK)

Competency in:

Manual and patient handling

Infection control

Aggressive behaviour management

Mandatory reporting (child protection)

Medication management (including QPHS regulations)

Desirable Skills

Experience with Queensland Health’s ieMR system

Familiarity with FirstNet, PowerChart, HBCIS

Previous work within QLD Health or Mackay HHS

Additional Information

Candidates must be willing to undertake:

Online induction and mandatory training

ieMR training (if not already certified)

Any other training as required by the health service
