Physiotherapist – Spinal Cord Injury & Neurological Recovery

Part-time | Epping, VIC

At The Next Step Spinal Cord Injury Recovery & Wellness Centre, we do things differently. We’re Victoria’s only dedicated spinal cord injury and neurological recovery facility – a bright, open and supportive hub where clients, families and clinicians come together to create life-changing outcomes. Our approach blends evidence-based practice with compassion, community, and innovation.

We’re looking for a Physiotherapist who is ready to step into a role that is both professionally challenging and deeply rewarding. This isn’t just about treating injuries – it’s about helping people rebuild independence, achieve goals they never thought possible, and feel at home while doing it.

What’s in it for you?

Part-time role with flexibility and the potential to grow into more hours

Work in an evidence-based centre renowned for spinal cord injury and neurological rehabilitation

Be part of a team preparing to support Griffith University’s groundbreaking stem cell clinical trials in 2026

Weekly professional development sessions and structured learning opportunities

A supportive, fun, and collaborative team culture – think team lunches, social catch-ups and celebrations

Staff access to our brand-new gym and recovery zone, including sauna, ice bath and compression therapy

A modern, well-equipped facility designed with accessibility and innovation at its core

What you’ll be doing

Prescribing and facilitating safe, individualised recovery programs for people with spinal cord injuries and neurological disorders

Conducting screening, risk assessments and ongoing monitoring to ensure best-practice, client-centred care

Completing NDIS Functional Capacity Assessments (FCA) – providing the evidence clients need to access the right supports and funding

Accurately recording client information and maintaining compliance with all legal and professional standards

Providing follow-up care through quarterly client reviews and progress assessments

Assisting with administrative tasks, attending scheduled staff meetings, and contributing to organisational operations

Participating in yearly performance appraisals and weekly professional development

Following Workplace Health & Safety policies and maintaining a safe environment for all clients and staff

Building strong working relationships with NDIS providers, TAC, WorkCover, medical/legal professionals, and community networks

Supporting clients to connect and transition into community programs that sustain positive lifestyle change

Working collaboratively with the TNS team to maintain our reputation as a welcoming, innovative and client-first facility

Please note: this role description is not exhaustive. Duties may evolve in line with your skills, training and scope of practice.

What you’ll bring

Masters of Physiotherapy (required) + current AHPRA registration

Strong academic foundation such as a Bachelor of Exercise Science or similar

At least 2 years of clinical experience in physiotherapy practice

Comprehensive diagnostic knowledge of musculoskeletal conditions

Proficiency in dry needling and sports massage techniques

Excellent manual therapy and exercise prescription skills

Experience or interest in neurological disorders and/or spinal cord injuries

Current Victorian Driver’s Licence, Professional Indemnity Insurance, Working with Children’s Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check & annual CPR

Ability to provide primary health care in a professional, confidential and culturally safe manner

Empathy, patience, and a calm approach when supporting clients and families

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Collaborative mindset and an enthusiastic team approach

Commitment to evidence-guided practice and continuous professional growth

Why join us?

This is more than a job – it’s a chance to be part of a centre that’s reshaping recovery in Victoria. You’ll gain unique experience in a specialised field, learn alongside a multidisciplinary team of experts, and have the satisfaction of knowing your work directly impacts people’s independence, confidence, and quality of life.
