About the role
This role will use their lived experience of mental illness and recovery to facilitate the development, planning and delivery of recovery support. The APW will use their lived experience of mental illness and recovery to model recovery strategies to people presenting in mental health crisis and/or their families, carers and kin.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Connect with people experiencing mental health crisis and/or their families, carers, kin and staff providing a positive example of recovery, sharing personal experience (when appropriate) of managing mental health issues and broader positive strategies for mental health recovery and wellbeing.
- Support people experiencing mental health crisis to make positive changes towards recovery by assisting them to identify their interests, strengths and goals and participate in planning to achieve these i.e. assist consumers in the identification of their recovery goals and planning.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of the multidisciplinary team, complementing existing services to assist people experiencing mental health crisis on their recovery journey.
