About The Role:
We’re seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Practitioner to lead trauma-informed, high-quality care for children and young people. In this new and pivotal role, you’ll work with a certain level autonomy and also a sense of innovation alongside the General Manager – Quality & Practice to take ownership of the role and drive continuous improvement across our Youth and Communities, Foster and Kinship Care, and Disability and Allied Health programs.
You’ll provide professional supervision, on-the-ground guidance, and practice leadership that aligns with organisational frameworks and evidence-based models of care. Your relational, culturally safe approach will help implement wrap-around, strengths-based case management for children and young people with complex trauma backgrounds.
Key responsibilities include enhancing outcomes, mitigating risk, and strengthening practice across programs. You'll collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, support care planning, risk assessment, and promote resilience and self-determination for children and young people, as well as:
Provide clinical guidance, support therapeutic care planning, and model professional, resilient practice.
Mentor and train staff, support onboarding, and foster a positive, reflective team culture to ensure consistent, quality service delivery.
Ensure safe work practices and adherence to child protection protocols. Support incident response and reporting and contribute to continuous improvement and staff training in crisis intervention.

Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services or a related discipline is required.
Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed care, attachment theory, and child development.
Experience working with culturally diverse communities, including First Nations young people.
Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work autonomously and drive innovation, as well as working alongside a multidisciplinary team.
Training in therapeutic crisis intervention models (e.g., TCI, or equivalent) is desirable
Experience in leading teams, providing supervision, or acting in a senior capacity within a therapeutic or care setting is desirable.
Working with Children Check and LCS check or willing to obtain
Police check or willing to obtain
Valid Open or P2 driver's licence
