About the Kitchen Hand role:
Clarence Street Early Learning Centre
Place: 175 place Service
Location: Clarence Street, South Brisbane, 4101
Position Details: Part-time position. 30 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Hours: 7:30am - 2:00pm (including 30-minute lunch break)
Located in the heart of South Brisbane’s vibrant health precinct, Clarence Street Early Learning is a proud new addition to our network, and we’re excited to welcome a dedicated Kitchen Hand to our team.
Our multi-storey centre features 14 purpose-built rooms, catering to children from nursery through to kindergarten. This is a unique opportunity to bring your passion for food into a role that truly makes a difference.
As our Kitchen Hand, you’ll work closely with our experienced Chef to prepare nutritious, child-friendly meals that cater to a variety of dietary needs—helping to nurture healthy eating habits from the very beginning.
What You’ll Do
- Create and deliver nutritious, age-appropriate meals and snacks aligned with national dietary guidelines.
- Cater for dietary requirements including allergies, intolerances, and cultural needs.
- Ensure food safety and cleanliness standards are consistently met.
- Work with educators to support learning themes and special events through food.
- Encourage healthy habits through engaging food experiences for children and families.
What You’ll Bring
- Previous experience as a cook or kitchen hand, ideally in early childhood, schools, or aged care settings.
- Relevant cookery/food studies would be desirable
- Strong understanding of child nutrition and meal planning.
- Food Safety Supervisor certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Excellent time management, communication, and organisational skills.
- A warm, team-oriented approach and passion for children’s wellbeing.
