AusCycling is the nation’s peak riding and cycling body, representing more than 5 million Australians who ride bikes. Team Purpose

AusCycling’s Club & Community Enhancement pillar has responsibility for the growth in participation, creating opportunities for more people to enjoy riding their bike regardless of age, circumstance, skill level and location. Primarily this occurs through the channels of school and community programs, working closely with our Clubs and delivery partners to grow the number of Australians riding bikes.

Position Purpose

The AusBike Instructor will be responsible for delivering engaging and educational bike riding sessions to students in various schools as part of AusCycling's AusBike Program. This role involves promoting bike riding as a healthy and fun activity, teaching fundamental cycling skills as a life skill, and encouraging a love for the sport in school-aged children, whilst promoting a connection to ongoing participation via AusCycling participation products and member clubs.

Responsibilities

Program Delivery:

Conduct on-site bike riding lessons at schools and within community, delivering age/ability-appropriate activities.

Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.

Implement the program curriculum in accordance with AusCycling guidelines.

Adapt sessions to cater to different skill levels and age groups.

Student Engagement:

Promote a positive and enthusiastic attitude towards bike riding.

Encourage active participation, teamwork, and peer-support.

Create an enjoyable and memorable experience for students and teachers.

Bike and Equipment Management:

Safely transport and set up program equipment, including bicycles.

Ensure bikes and equipment are in good working condition and report any issues to the Community Development Operations Lead.

Safety and Risk Management:

Follow all safety guidelines and procedures during program delivery.

Be aware of potential risks and take appropriate action to prevent accidents.

Documentation:

Complete required program documentation, including attendance records, feedback, and incident reports.

Customer Interaction:

Interact professionally with school staff, students, and parents.

Respond to inquiries, promote and provide information about AusCycling programs.

Child-related work is conducted in this role with interactions varying from online, physical or face-to-face such as program delivery in school or centre (club, private providers or partner) environments, event activations / expos.

Key Performance Indicators

Monitor, control and manage assigned tasks to ensure delivery within agreed timeframes and budget.

Implementation of programs, initiatives and resources to meet participation growth targets.

Positive school sentiment.

Positive participant feedback (programs and initiatives).

Proactive collaboration within the broader participation team and other business pillars as required.

Seek out, welcome and act on feedback.

Demonstrate continuous improvement both personally and with regards to participation products.

Reporting and compliance for participation programs is achieved.

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Current CPR and First Aid Certificate (or the ability to achieve this within a short time frame of commencing in the role).

A passion for bike riding and a good understanding of the sport/recreation and mode of transportation.

Experience working with children in a coaching or educational setting.

Strong communication and presentation skills.

Ability to engage and motivate students.

A can-do attitude, and natural ability to bring enthusiasm and positive energy to the team and the broader community.

Mandatory Requirements

Working with Children’s Check clearance from the relevant authority;

Satisfactory Police Check (in the absolute discretion of the Company); and

Satisfactory No Doping Declaration (in the absolute discretion of the Company).

Notes

This role requires the incumbent to hold and maintain a Working with Children Clearance, along with a drivers licence. Due to the timing of AusCycling events, this role also requires flexibility in work hours including being available to work weekends, public holidays and out of hours’ work as necessary.
