Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts and other necessary machinery to move and transport scrap metal safely and efficiently within the yard.
• Load and unload materials from various vehicles or containers.
• Conduct routine maintenance checks and ensure forklifts and related equipment are in good working condition.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies at all times to maintain a safe working environment.
• Identify different types of scrap metal and assist with sorting and categorizing duties as needed.
• Collaborate with the yard team to ensure a smooth workflow and timely completion of tasks.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the yard, ensuring pathways are clear and materials stored properly.
• Assist with other logistical or operational tasks as required to support overall yard functionality.
  
  Qualifications
• Proven experience as a forklift operator, preferably in a scrap metal or industrial yard setting.
• Valid forklift operator certification is mandatory.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols and adept at following them diligently.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.

  Day-to-Day
• Coordinate with team members to identify daily priorities and handle materials based on the yard's operational needs.

• Proactively monitor yards for any safety hazards and report them immediately.
• Engage with team members across diverse backgrounds, contributing to a culture of understanding and mutual respect.
• Adapt to changing workloads and contribute to problem-solving initiatives to ensure efficiency and productivity.
