Are you passionate about asset management and financial strategy? Mackay Regional Council is seeking a skilled Senior Accountant to lead asset financial operations and support long-term planning.
About this opportunity:
This role provides expert financial advice to support effective asset management across Council's $3.5 billion asset base. You'll ensure asset registers reflect fair value, contribute to strategic budgeting, and lead financial reporting and audit processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and validate financial data in Council's asset registers in line with policies and legislation
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure assets reflect fair value
- Lead budgeting and forecasting processes for asset-related programs
- Prepare annual financial statements and respond to audit queries
- Develop and review internal controls and asset management policies
- Analyse accounting developments and advise on implications for asset management
- Maintain reporting systems to support efficient asset financial oversight
Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, Commerce, or Accounting.
- Eligibility for membership to CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants ANZ.
- Strong experience in asset financial management and valuation
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Office suite.
