About the Position

We are looking to welcome a Mobile Residential Support Worker to foster a welcoming home environment for children across Aurukun, Doomadgee, Kowanyama, Napranum and Pormpuraaw Safehouses.

  • Casual position
  • This role includes weekends and evenings, including some sleepovers at the house.
  • Level 2 under the SCHACDS Award. Base hourly rate is $43.23 per hour (including casual loading) plus Superannuation.
  • Government funded until 31 December 2026 with possible extension.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively and under the leadership of the Program Coordinator and Team Leader to undertake the day-to-day household duties, property and grounds maintenance, cleaning, and shopping.
  • Provide effective support to children and young people and in collaboration with the Team Leader and Program Coordinator, assist the children and young people to develop positive behaviour management strategies.
  • Create, in conjunction with other residential workers, a warm, structured, secure environment and maintain an accepting and supportive relationship with family and community contacts of each young person.

About You

  • Demonstrated ability to assist in the running of a busy household.
  • Demonstrated skill, ability and experience in caring for children.
  • Ability to work as part of a coordinated team.

Other Requirements

  • Eligibility for a positive Working with Children Check in the applicable state of employment in Australia or exemption based on professional qualifications and registration.
  • Suitability Check to be engaged in the provision of care services by licensed out-of-home care service providers under the Child Protection Act 1999 and Child Protection Regulation
  • Current driver’s licence.
  • Applicants must be eligible to legally work in Australia and proof of eligibility will be requested.
  • Continue to develop your cultural competency by working closely with the Cultural Advisor on developing, implementing and maintaining a cultural practice plan individualized to your development
  • Ability to travel to the communities for extended periods of time (eg. 4 weeks), work weekends and evenings including sleepovers at the house. Accommodation will be provided during these periods.
