Regional Youth Support Services - RYSS, is a leading, locally based child and youth registered charity and Not For Profit agency, delivering frontline youth support services and innovative engagement strategies to vulnerable young people between the ages of 10 and 25, and their families in communities throughout the NSW Central Coast.

We’re looking for Abilities Youth Workers who are energetic, compassionate, and ready to bring flexibility and availability to our team. The more hours you can offer, the more lives you can impact!

About the Role

As an Abilities Youth Worker at RYSS, you will provide support to young people living with disability, empowering them to build independence, engage in their communities, and achieve personal goals. This role is flexible and varied, and may include in-home support, community access, transport, group support and skill-building activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver individualised, person-centred support that promotes choice and control

• Assist with daily living tasks, social engagement, and community participation

• Foster a safe, respectful, and empowering environment for each young person

• Complete accurate documentation and progress notes

• Liaise with coordinators and team leaders to support service planning

Essential Criteria

Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services or related field

Demonstrated experience in community support services for young people with disabilities and/or mental illness with a commitment to quality care and excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

Ability to articulate how best to deliver support with compassion, innovation, initiative, and in consideration of the rights of the individual

Current Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, and Police Check

Current First Aid Certificate

Valid Australian driver’s licence and reliable vehicle with comprehensive car insurance

Availability for flexible shifts (including weekends and evenings)

Desirable

A good knowledge of community services and professional support networks available on the Central Coast

Further qualifications in mental health/youth work/social work, and experience in working with people with mental illness, complex needs, and/or backgrounds of trauma.

Commitment to undertake training in mental health first aid and other training as identified.
