Position Profile: An exciting and rare opportunity is available for a dynamic and experienced Clinical Nurse Manager to lead the nursing team at the brand-new WA Children’s Hospice. This state-of-the-art, 7-bed facility will be the first of its kind in Western Australia, providing specialised palliative and respite care for children aged from birth to 18 years. As the Clinical Nurse Manager, you will be instrumental in shaping a compassionate and family-centred service from the ground up. You will lead the Hospice Nursing Team, fostering a culture of excellence in evidence-based palliative care to ensure optimal outcomes for patients and their families. This key leadership role involves managing the nursing team, overseeing budgets, and ensuring the delivery of a patient-centred service that meets national quality and safety standards.

About the Sandcastles (Boodja Mia) Children’s Hospice: Due to commence operations mid-2026.This purpose-built, world-class paediatric hospice, located on the stunning Western Australian coast, offers statewide specialist paediatric palliative care services for children and young people (0–18 years) who are living with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, and their families. - Describe a time when you took a leadership role in managing the care of a complex patient receiving end-of-life care. What was your role as the coordinator of the nursing team, and how did you support both staff and family during this time?
- How do you foster effective collaboration within a multidisciplinary team, particularly during emotionally challenging situations involving patients and their families?
- Can you give an example of how you’ve managed a challenging stakeholder relationship in a palliative care setting?
- A current resume which summarises your experience and includes both phone and email contact details of two professional referees, with at least one being a recent supervisor/line manager.
