TLDR: Contractor position for Behaviour Support Practitioner supporting participants on the Central Coast and surrounding areas. No KPIs, flexibility, and led by two clinical directors (Andrew & Andrew) who have over 50 years of experience in complex and challenging behaviour.
Behaviour support practitioners (BSPs) evaluate the factors influencing an individual's behaviour and create interventions to enhance their quality of life while minimising challenging behaviours.
The field of behaviour support does not have a single professional pathway; practitioners come from diverse backgrounds, such as Allied Health, Developmental Education, Behavioural Analysis, and other related fields, such as education.
A behaviour support practitioner conducts assessments and develops various "behaviour support plans" that may involve modifying the physical environment, implementing effective communication strategies, managing stimuli, and teaching replacement behaviours that are more adaptive and aligned with the participant's goals and life direction. Two core components of their work include behaviour measurement to track progress and providing training to support networks.
Developing behaviour support strategies is a collaborative process involving key stakeholders like healthcare professionals, family members, support staff, insurers, and funders. These strategies are based on person-centred practices and behavioural science principles to uphold an individual's human rights and wellbeing.
Co-founders and Clinical Directors of Neurodivergent Solutions Andrew and Andrew recognised a need for practical, solutions-focused support for individuals, families, schools, workplaces and the wider community. They envisaged bringing together like-minded professionals to meet this need, professionals who subscribe to the quality over quantity mantra and have a relationship-first agenda.
