The Opportunity

We are seeking highly motivated individuals to join our team, filling both Farm Operator and Tractor Operator roles in Virginia, SA. Reporting directly to the Farm Manager, you will play a key role in all facets of our farming operations, from ground preparation to harvest. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong work ethic and a passion for agriculture to contribute to the success of our operations.

Key Responsibilities

Operate tractors and other farming equipment for planting, cultivation, and harvesting of potatoes.

Inspect, sort, and grade potatoes.

Assist with ground preparation, including soil tilling, irrigation setup, and planting.

Monitor crop health and assist in pest and weed management practices.

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment to ensure optimal functionality.

Support the harvesting process, including operating machinery and ensuring proper handling of crops.

Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting harvested crops to storage or distribution sites.

Ensure adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations on the farm.

Keep accurate records of farming activities, equipment usage, and crop yields.

Collaborate with the farm team to meet production goals and maintain high-quality standards.

What we are looking for

Proven experience operating tractors and farm machinery, preferably in potato farming or similar agricultural environments.

Strong understanding of farming practices, including soil preparation, irrigation, and crop management.

Ability to perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on farming equipment.

Excellent attention to detail and the ability to monitor and maintain crop health.

Physical fitness and stamina to work long hours in outdoor and varying weather conditions.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.

Commitment to safety and following all farm safety protocols and guidelines.

A proactive attitude with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and tasks.

Previous experience in potato farming is advantageous but not required.

Chemical Handling Certificate and Forklift licence are essential.
