At Journey Connect, we build teams around participants' needs to ensure that the person is cared for in the way they want to be cared for.

We have casual positions available for EXPERIENCED and INEXPERIENCED support workers wanting 25+ hours per week during the week; however, we are offering permanent part-time and full-time positions for the right people.

Our participants are located from Pimpama to Logan, so living in and around these areas is going to be essential to reduce your travel.

About you

We are looking for new and existing support workers of all genders – all ages – all cultures and ethnicities, all walks of life. What you bring is you. What we bring are people you will love supporting, the training and support you need to be your best.

Reliability is key. Participants need us to be there for them - turning up and being on time is a non-negotiable.

Ability to disconnect from social media and technology for up to 8 hours at a time. Engagement with our participants is centre to this role.

Caring and empathy are part of your core beliefs, not just in word, but deed.

You have a minimum of 25 hours of availability per week (mostly Mon-Fri). The spread of hours range from 6am-6am!

You are adaptable and resilient, able to regulate your emotions and responses.

You are a team player – willing to step in the breach to assist sometimes at short notice.

Great communication skills. You should be able to communicate, read and write in English.

Willingness/experience in working with people with visual impairments, language challenges, and mobility issues.

Willingness to support participants with challenging behaviour. This is a key requirement.

Willingness to perform personal care including showering, toileting, assistance with daily living, cooking, cleaning, and manual handling, including hoisting and transport

Confident with the use of technology such as phone apps.

Willing to follow directions and adapt to the individual needs of participants.

Experience is desired, but not essential.

Responsibilities

The day-to-day tasks you will perform will vary depending on the participant's needs. At the core, you will provide positive, meaningful, connected support to people of varying ages and backgrounds. You must be able to connect with a broad range of personalities, interests, and communication styles.

You are expected to be proactive in providing meaningful support toward participants' goals. You will be part of goal development and management.

No two days are alike even if you are supporting the same Participant!

Requirements

Have a current Worker Screening (Yellow Card) or ability to obtain

Working with Children (Blue Card) or ability to obtain.

Cert III in disability or equivalent will be well-regarded

Australian Drivers licence and own reliable vehicle.
