We’re looking for someone to join our team as a Water and Environment Systems Officer.

The key responsibilities of this role are:

Provide oversight and maintenance of the Environment and Drinking Water Quality Systems within Cairns Regional Council.

Drive system improvements and innovation while ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements.

Ensure compliance with statutory reporting and incident response.

Develop and implement procedures and continuous improvement strategies that enhance service delivery.

Provide expert environmental and drinking water technical guidance to teams across the Council.

Lead training initiatives that build technical expertise across the organization.

Foster a strong culture of quality, safety, and environmental stewardship throughout Council operations.

What we are looking for:

Current ‘C’ class Drivers Licence

Tertiary qualification in Science, Environmental Science, or Engineering relevant to the role.

Previous experience relevant to key duties of the role.

Understanding and knowledge of the principles of quality management systems applicable to water, wastewater and resource recovery practices and processes.

Highly developed written communication skills to review technical data to write and prepare associated technical reports and correspondence.

Analytical, problem solving and investigative skills to solve complex issues.

High level computer and data recording skills

Time management skills to plan and manage multiple projects with tight timeframes.
