Ikigai is building its founding team, and we’re looking for both passionate Spa Therapists and an experienced Senior Therapist & Team Lead to grow with us. This is your chance to be part of something new, calm, and design-led — with a pathway into a future Spa Manager role as the spa expands.

About Ikigai

Ikigai is a designer-led wellness sanctuary in Melbourne’s inner west, created as a place of ritual, calm, and connection. Our boutique spa offers four bespoke treatment rooms alongside an outdoor open-air sanctuary bathhouse, exclusive to small guest numbers — a unique experience rarely found in the city.

Our services include:

Massage — relaxation, spa rituals, and future pregnancy massage.

Facials — premium skin treatments using high-quality, luxury product ranges.

Head Spa — our signature ritual treatment.

Outdoor Bathing Rituals — serene, design-led open-air experiences.

The Roles

Spa Therapist

Provide high-quality facials, relaxation massage, head spa, and body rituals.

Create a nurturing, welcoming experience for every client.

Maintain high standards of hygiene, presentation, and communication.

Promote retail products with genuine, informed recommendations.

Senior Spa Therapist & Team Lead

(All of the above, plus)

Lead by example on treatment quality, guest experience, and service rituals.

Mentor and support junior therapists through training and feedback.

Assist with operational duties such as rosters, stock checks, and treatment protocols.

Contribute to shaping the culture, rituals, and service journey of Ikigai.

Pathway into Spa Manager role as the business grows.

About You

Diploma or Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy (minimum).

Skilled in facials, massage, and spa/body treatments.

Warm, polished, and guest-focused, with excellent communication skills.

Reliable, adaptable, and eager to grow with a new spa brand.

For the Team Lead role: previous senior or leadership experience in a spa, salon, or wellness environment is highly valued.

Pay

$36–$40/hr casual, depending on qualifications and experience, in line with the Hair and Beauty Industry Award (MA000005), plus superannuation, commissions, incentives and staff discounts.
