About Us

Country Connect Foundation is a First Nations-led not-for-profit organisation dedicated to delivering culturally grounded disability and wellbeing services in remote Aboriginal communities across the Northern Territory. Our mission is to transform lives by providing equitable access to support services by prioritising connection to country, culture, and community. We celebrate individual strengths and help unlock opportunities for growth and success regardless of backgrounds, abilities, or circumstances.

The Role

We are seeking passionate Senior Support Workers to join our team in Tiwi Islands and Jabiru on a permanent full-time basis. This unique position combines direct (active and inactive) support with caretaker responsibilities. Your primary role will be to support participants in our Wellbeing or Youth Programs to live fulfilling lives in their community, engaging in the activities they enjoy most.

Please note: This is a live-in role with basic house accommodation provided. As the house is used to support our clients, you may be residing alongside participants at times, and the environment will be shared.

Key Responsibilities:

Support Work:

Provide culturally safe, compassionate, and personalised care that enhances the wellbeing and dignity of each client.

Support clients with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, light housekeeping, transport, and meaningful companionship.

Deliver care in line with the client’s individual support plan, developed in partnership with the Care Designer (Registered Nurse) and informed by the client’s goals and preferences.

Prioritise client safety by using equipment appropriately and maintaining a safe and respectful environment.

Accurately and consistently complete all required documentation and progress notes to support continuity of care.

Navigate remote areas safely, which may involve 4WD travel.

Work closely with allied health professionals to develop and facilitate skills-based collaborative activity sessions tailored to client needs.

Ensure integrated support plans that align with therapeutic goals.

Caretaker Responsibilities:

Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment that reflects respect for the people living and working on site.

Support the upkeep and presentation of the property to foster community pride and cultural safety.

Carry out light maintenance and general grounds care, ensuring outdoor and communal areas are tidy and functional.

Report property or safety concerns promptly to ensure issues are addressed in a timely and culturally appropriate manner.

About You:

Essential Criteria:

Minimum 2 years experience within youth supports, disability, or aged care.

Willingness to relocate to very remote areas.

Strong understanding of culturally safe practices and experience working in remote Aboriginal communities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-cultural team.

Proficient in coordinating programs and activities that promote participant engagement.

Experience collaborating with allied health professionals to deliver integrated support.

Valid NT Manual Driver’s License.

Working with Children Check (Ochre Card).

NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).

First Aid & CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain).

Desirable Criteria:

Lived experience in disability, caregiving, or community work, or similar experiences.

4WD driving skills and confidence in off-road travel.

Qualifications in disability support, aged care, youth work, or community services are desirable.

Why Join Us?

Be part of a culturally rich and unique environment.

Opportunity to travel to remote areas and support people in their country.

Flexible casual hours to suit your lifestyle (or permanent for those who prefer)

Work within an organisation that values community, connection, and care.

Your personal experiences and background are seen as strengths and we encourage you to bring your passions and interests to the program.

How to Apply:

If you are passionate about making a difference and supporting people to live their best lives, we’d love to hear from you!
