abrs is partnering with the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to recruit passionate and qualified mental health professionals for a vital phone-based counselling service based onsite in Brindabella Business Park, Canberra.

The Role:

As a counsellor on this team, you’ll be a critical first point of contact for ADF members and their families, offering support for a wide range of mental health and wellbeing concerns.

You'll:

• Deliver telephone-based counselling, crisis support and referral services
• Perform risk assessments and crisis interventions
• Prepare clear, detailed written reports
• Refer callers to the most appropriate services
• Collaborate with a team of experienced professionals through debriefs and knowledge sharing
• Conduct assessments via phone and video (Skype)

You’ll Need:

• A degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Human Services, Allied Health or Nursing with Mental Health experience
• Strong risk assessment and crisis intervention skills
• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities
• Experience writing professional reports
• Australian Citizenship (due to security clearance requirements)
• Willingness to work rotating full-time shifts (including weekends)
• Be based in ACT or ready to relocate
